It was Job Charnok who chose this place as a British trading post. Within a small span of time, the small trading post rose into the capital of a mighty empire and also the largest colonial trade center in Asia, referred to as the Jewel of the East. Though the structures have not been given a very good treatment, they still retain some of their grandeur even as they crumble. A major landmark in Kolkata and almost synonymous with it is the Victoria Memorial. An architectural genius and an English rival of the Mughal Taj, it is one of the finest art museums in the country. A multi-faceted city, Delhi presents a glorious intertwining of the contemporary and the old. The very name of Delhi rolls out a picture of a powerful place that ruled many empires, a place where many mighty emperors rose and fell and the place that now governs the largest democracy in the world. Truly metropolitan to the core, Delhi is made of people from all corners of the country. Quite naturally, the city speaks a jumble of some odd vernaculars and has a culture which is a concoction of various elements.

Delhi is home to two different worlds altogether. One is the ancient world that still survives time and the other world is all new that shows the present and the future of the nation. Thanks to the masters who laid the city, Delhi is clearly marked out as Old Delhi and New Delhi. A visit to the older part takes you back in time while its contemporary counterpart talks of everything modern, contemporary and even futuristic.

The cradle for the Sultanate and later on the Mughals, Delhi is home to an impressive number of monuments and structures that command awe and amazement from all their beholders. The most formidable of these is the Red Fort, a massive structure by the Mughals. It still stands as the largest monument in the city and the symbol of a free India. It is the site where the Prime Minister of the country unfurls the national flag. Another fort in Delhi that holds much importance is the Old Fort. It is believed to be the fort of the legendary Rajput King, Prithviraj Chauhan. It was later taken up by Sher Shah and Humayun, so the elements of each ruler are present in here. A victory tower by a Sultan here is also another structural gem that adds to the wealth of Delhi. The tallest stone tower in the world; it is an architectural genius from the ancient engineers. A famous iron pillar adorns the courtyard of the tower. The pillar is again a masterpiece of metallurgy. It is known to be there since the fourth century and is still rust free. Another noted monument from the great builders, the Mughals, is the Tomb of Humayun. It is believed to be the predecessor of the world famous Taj Mahal. It was after this that the use of the famous marble, domes and gardens came into practice. Jantar Mantar stands as one of the finest examples of the advancement of Indian Science in the eighteenth century. It is one of the many observatories built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh erected for making astronomical observations. More of this old world of Delhi can be caught at the many museums the city affords. The National Gallery of Modern Art at Jaipur House is a treat for all art lovers. The National Rail Museum is a good place to see how the railways have evolved in the country. The National Museum is home to relics and artifacts right from Indus Valley Civilization to the most recent items. Home to people from all the parts of the country observing different religions and practices, Delhi is home to a good number of religious places too. A marvelous Italian structure here is the Church of the Sacred Heart. A famous church it is flooded by crowds during festivals. Another famous church here is the Cathedral Church of Redemption. It is known for hosting lavish concerts on festivals. A good number of Gurudwaras are also present in Delhi. The major gurudwaras here are the ones that were laid to commemorate the visits of the five Gurus to the city. A long reign of Muslims has brought a good number of mosques to the city. Some of them are architectural masterpieces and a heritage for the country. Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in the country is one of the most popular too. It is believed to house a hair from the beard of the Hazrat Mohammad. Another sacred pilgrimage here is the Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliyaa Dargah, the tomb of the famous Sufi saint. Distinguished temples in the city are Kalkaji Mandir, Digambar Mandir, Chattarpur Mandir, Lakshmi Narayan Mandir, ISKCON Temple and the Lotus Temple. A contemporary version of Delhi is New Delhi. It is here where the seat of the government is. The Parliament House or the center of all power is present here. The youth and the modern can be well seen in the most happening pockets of Delhi like the Cannaught Place, South Extension, Chandni Chowk, Greater Kailash and Palika Bazaar. Shopping with a traditional flavor can be had at Chandini Chowk. Though a bit congested, the markets overflow with shops selling the best and most unusual items. 10 Tips From Successful Electronics Affiliate Program Affiliates

Posted by Earlan on January 8th, 2011  •  No Comments »

Affiliates who are just starting out can sometimes find it difficult to generate as much money as they like. Whether it’s getting the traffic to your site/video/review in the first place or converting that traffic into buying customers for the merchants in question it doesn’t matter. In practice the business of selling somebody elses’ products isn’t as easy as some people make it out to be. However, by taking a few steps you will soon be able to earn affiliates commissions envied by many with less effort and less cash than you’d think. Here are 10 simple things you can do make your commission earnings explode. 1) Talk To The Merchant’s Affiliate Managers If a merchant is leveraging the affiliate system of getting traffic there is a very good chance that they have a staff member that is dedicated to handling affiliates. This person is likely to not only understand promotional methods, technical problems, and product lines and can help you design campaign so that both parties make money. After all it’s in the merchants best interest to help you sell because it means more sales for them. Which ecommerce vendor doesn’t like more sales? 2) Link Deep Not Wide! This is where communicating with the merchants’ affiliates manager and getting to know the merchant’s site really come in handy. By linking to a product that is most appropriate to the ‘conversation’ you are having you increase the chances of making a sale and increasing your commissions. There’s also steps you can take to analyze which links are getting you sales and, by making some changes to the URLS you will be able to work out which links work and which links don’t. 3) Monitor Your Statistics Visit the “Activity Details” and “Activity Summary” links regularly to view details on your sales and clicks. Sign up to Google Analytics if you have your own website. If you have specified optional afftrack values for links you’ve created, you’ll see those next to your completed sales. This will give you more information about what things work and what things don’t. 4) Study Customer Behavior So what do you do with all that information you’re gathering. You use it to improve your conversion rate of course. You can use the “Return Days Analysis” to see how long it takes buyers to make a purchase after seeing a link. You can also see which campaigns work better than others and fine tune efforts in the future. 5) Ask Your Merchants For Feedback If merchants have strong positive or negative feelings about how you are promoting their products, they may leave you feedback. Keep track of this to build better relationships with the merchants and lift your commissions in the future. Even if there is no feedback get in contact with them and see what they think. They might have some ideas that could lift your results considerably. 6) Monitor Merchant ‘Health’ Merchants can get low on affiliate funds. They can leave networks completely. Before you start any new promotional campaign, you need to ensure the company you are doing the work for has the money to pay you when it’s successful. If a program says “Low Funds”, proceed with caution. If it’s closed, move on to something else. 7) Stay Up-To-Date With Your Network. Networks are businesses in themselves, they are communities of loosely assoiciated merchants, affiliates and administrators. What does that mean to you? What it means is that there are rule changes, new promotions and new developments all the time and new opportunities and obstacles may be facing you and you don’t know it. Some networks like shareasale maintains an active blog with news and important information for their affiliates. But even with others there should be some forum where affiliates and merchants get together to discuss the health of the network. By getting involved, or at least monitoring that network, you will always be in the loop and in the best position to profit from any changes. 8) Help Your Customers Get Discounts And Results As a rule people shopping online want one of two things: Faster results and cheaper prices. With affiliates networks like commission junction or shareasale there is often a “Coupons/Deals” link that will help you find available deals for merchants in the network. This will allow you to set up coupons where customers can make a ‘saving’ on an item and you can get a higher conversion rate. With some ecommerce websites, many customers do not do not speak English as their first language. This puts you in a position to increase foreign-language sales for the merchant and tap into an under developed market. 9) Leave Page Design To The Experts If you’re slowed down by page design and coding then there are solutions to this problem. Many affiliate networks, like Shareasale have a “Make a Page” feature, which allows you to create specific product pages quickly. All you need to do usually is to enter in details about which items you’d like to promote and you’ll get back the raw HTML code you can upload to your website for an instant page. Otherwise there are sites like elance that has many coders who can also do the job for you in a fraction of the time for little cost. 10) Put Earnings On Automatic With Datafeeds The great thing about the internet is that once its set up it can be automated so that, with little ongoing input from you, it can go on generating money for you. The secret behind this is often datafeeds. Some affiliate sites like Shareasale have merchant datafeeds that you can download by clicking on them. However, even if a site doesn’t have a datafeed it is still possible to generate one if you know your way around code. RSS feeds can be ‘repurposed’ if you know a site has one. There are also some third-party tools like PopShops and GoldenCAN that will do the job for you. By doing this you will be able to make your commission earnings explode all with little effort and little cash. What more could you ask for? Sign on to the electronics affiliate program that is guaranteed to pay. Visit the wholesale affiliate program leader Chinavasion. com today.

Mod Fashion Tips: Selecting Clothing That’s Right For Your Hourglass Figure

Posted by Earlan on December 11th, 2010  •  No Comments »

Spring is here, and clothing designers are introducing their newest styles in skirts, dresses, denim jeans, shirts, and halter tops. The mod, hipster, and retro fashion mavens among us tend to covet certain styles. However, to look your best, it’s also essential to select clothing styles that complement your figure. At first glance, the hourglass figure seems like the embodiment of feminine perfection. Men lust after it and women covet it. Surprisingly, we’ve found that hourglass-shaped ladies can’t wear everything. Too-tight clothes, like leggings and provocative halters, tend to look trampy. Too-big clothes, like baggy sheath dresses and very wide-legged denim jeans, tend to look sloppy. Read on to discover the clothing styles that flatter you, and get hip to the hottest clothing design trends, too. DressesIf you have an hourglass figure, play up your curves by selecting clothing with a defined waist. This year, designer Corey Lynn Calter introduced the “Raven” dress, a sheath, rust-color patterned dress with a slim waist. This dress accents your curves in all the right places without revealing too much flesh. Another flattering dress for your figure is the “Duo” strapless sailor dress by clothing designer Hype. This grey and magenta swirled sun dress, which features a front tie and side pockets, is perfectly filled out by your pretty figure. If you’re into A-line styles, add a belt to make a big splash and play up your intriguing lines. For example, the “Mod-est” dress by Jessie Williams is a short, flirty sheath-style dress with bell sleeves. You can wear this dress as beautifully as your boy-figured sisters if you cinch it with a wide belt at the waist. When buying this dress, opt for solid colors over patterns or stripes to flatter your curves. Formal wear is tailor made for hourglass figures. However, there are still certain dress styles that suit you better than others. One option we like this year is the “Cupra” white, strapless gown by Zeto. The black-colored tie-back evens out your figure, and the white, meshy tulle bust accents subtly play up your curves. Pair this long dress with the “Lovely Day” textured gold high heel shoes by Poetic License. Pants and JeansWhen selecting pants, opt for cuts that balance your figure and play up your assets. Some Helpful Tips For Keeping Your Roses Looking Healthy And Beautiful

Posted by Earlan on October 26th, 2009  •  No Comments »

Roses are very beautiful flowers with fragrant flowers that come in a variety of types and colors. Tending a rose garden is a fairly simple process consisting mainly of watering and pruning. You can decide when you prefer to prune your rose bush either in the spring or the fall. No matter when you chose to prune you flowers it is important to keep up with it regularly. Taking a few minutes every now and then will keep your rose bushes blooming and keep away any disease and pests.

The first thing you need to do when preparing for rose pruning is to purchase a sturdy pair of gardening gloves so you can avoid being poked by the vast amount of thorns. While you are shopping for gloves find a small handheld pair of pruning shears. They should be sharp, easy to use, sturdy, and feel natural in your hand. Just one more thing you need, a small stepstool to sit on or a comfortable pad to lean on while you prune so you don’t hurt your back leaning over.

There are a few tips to help you prune your roses that will encourage the best growth and health. To begin pull away all the dead leaves, flowers, stems and any weeds that may have snuck in and around the bush. Work your way up from the base of the bush. Clear away any debris that is surrounding the roots because they may hinder new growth from the roots. Look for any dead or dying stems and cut them away. When you make any type of cut be sure to always cut at an angle above any buds. If you are unsure of the status of a stem just pinch it. Pinching the stalk or stem of the rose should give some if they are alive and snap if they are dead. Try and make the smallest cuts, larger cuts will allow bacteria to enter the plant and can cause disease.

When you have pruned the dead and dying plants away the next step is to begin choosing the buds you want to encourage. Look especially for buds that are facing out ward, these will steer the plant towards the outside. Cut just above the buds and move around the entire bush. If you need to thin out the plant then removing the stems carefully leaving the buds intact will allow the possibility of transferring the stems to a new area for growing a new bush.

Pruning your roses is a great way to encourage growth and health of the entire plant. It will only take a few moments and the beauty will be lasting. Regular care including plenty of sunshine and water will ensure a beautiful rose bush.

Tips For Rose Bush Care

Posted by Earlan on October 9th, 2009  •  No Comments »

Roses are surprisingly easy plants to grow and ones that will supply your home with beautiful vases full of colorfull blooms.? There are so many varieties to choose from.? You only need to remember three things to achieve good rose bush care.? First, is rose bush choice, second, is how much water and fertilizer, and finally, apprpriate pruning.? I would suggest getting a guide such as The Ultimate Book of Roses.? It is a well written guide and very easy to understand with lots of tips on growing fabulous blooms. The type of rose bush you select is of utmost importance.? Depending on where you live and how much sun your yard gets each day will determine which variety will survive easily.? Disease and fungus can plague some roses so it is best to steer clear of those varieties.? You may want to look into the hardier roses for best results.? Plant the rose bushes about 3 to 4 feet apart to allow enough room for them to flourish. Also, find a location that receives adequate sun. The most important thing for proper rose bush care is watering and feeding your roses. An early morning soaking at the root base is the best prescription for ultimate bloom potential.? If it is a newly planted rose bush it should be well soaked everyday for at least the first couple of weeks.? After two weeks watering once a week is fine unless you live in a very hot climate.? Enable to keep the ground around your roses wet and weed free surround the bush with some type of mulch. Feed and fertilize once a month from Spring through the first frost in the Fall.? Roses should receive rose food that has a blend of manure and fish emulsion. It is not recommended to feed or fertilize during the cold winter months.? ? When it comes to rose bush care pruning is probably one of the most misunderstood techniques.? You only need to trim them when it is necessary such as when there are dead flowers or branches.? Cut the dead flowers down to the third or fourth branch or node (the small reddish lines). During the first two months of the year, cut back your roses to about two feet. You probably have a lot of questions that can be easily answered in the Ultimate Book of Roses.
